SELECTA gratings have been designed to provide high water capacity and easy access in curbside drainage applications. They incorporate several innovative features that facilitate maximum water absorption, minimize problems with debris, and enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Made from ductile iron — an engineered material that offers many advantages over traditional cast iron — SELECTA gratings deliver excellent performance in all the key areas of concern to municipal engineers. There are two SELECTA designs: SELECTA 500 (standard) and SELECTA MAXI (curb cover is height-adjustable)

Maintenance

• Both grate and curb cover open for easy access to sewer
• No need for additional cover to be installed to provide access

Hydraulic Capacity

SELECTA gratings are designed to maximize water absorption.
• Dual bar orientation for maximum performance
• Raised studs to slow water flow
• Bar surfaces are faceted to prevent leaves and litter from blocking drainage

Ergonomics

SELECTA gratings are designed to be ergonomically positive — that is, easy for one person to operate, with no special equipment necessary.
• Hinged grating and cover
- Reduces physical effort required to operate
- Grating or cover can be opened independently

Safety

SELECTA gratings are designed to maximize safety for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as maintenance personnel.
• On pavement side, elimination of hinge system clearance ensures
   safety for pedestrians (those wearing high heels, using canes
   or crutches)
• On street side, perpendicular positioning of bars ensures safety
   for cyclists
• Ductile iron
   - Product weighs 50% less than typical cast iron gratings, reducing
     risks of manual material handling (MMH)

Security

SELECTA gratings are designed to prevent unauthorized access.
• Standard spring bar locking mechanism requires specific knowledge
to be released
